Description:
Taxim-O is used to treat bacterial infections in many different parts of the body. It belongs to the class of medicines known as cephalosporin antibiotics. It works by killing bacteria or preventing their growth. However, Taxim-O will not work for colds, flu, or other virus infections.
Taxim-O is available only with your doctor's prescription.
Uses / Indications:
Taxim O 200 Tablet is used to treat certain bacterial infections including urinary tract infections, ear infections, throat infections including pharyngitis and tonsillitis, and sexually transmitted infections, such as, gonorrhea, that are affecting the urethra and rectum. Taxim O 200 is also used to treat worsening symptoms of severe cases of bronchitis.
Interactions / Warnings:
Do not take Taxim-O 200 Tablet 10's if you are allergic to Taxim-O 200 Tablet 10's or other macrolide antibiotics. Hypersensitivity reactions including shock and fatalities have been reported with Taxim-O 200 Tablet 10's. Discontinue use if there is a reaction and reach out to your doctor immediately. Tell your doctor if you have liver problems (jaundice), muscle problem (myasthenia gravis), heart rhythm disorder (arrhythmia), electrolyte imbalance (low potassium or magnesium level). In rare case, use of Taxim-O 200 Tablet 10's can cause diarrhoea, so in case if you have watery or bloody diarrhoea, stop taking Taxim-O 200 Tablet 10's and call your doctor. However, do not take any anti-diarrheal medicine until your doctor tells you. It is not known whether Taxim-O 200 Tablet 10's harms the baby in pregnancy or not. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant, planning for pregnancy or breastfeeding before using Taxim-O 200 Tablet 10's.
Side Effects:
Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

pinpoint red spots on the skin
puffiness or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes, face, lips, or tongue

red skin lesions, often with a purple center

sores, ulcers, or white spots on the lips or in the mouth

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

thick, white vaginal discharge with no odor or with a mild odor
white patches in the mouth or throat or on the tongue
white patches with diaper rash
Other side effects not listed may also occur in some patients. If you notice any other effects, check with your healthcare professional.
Medicine interaction:
Taxim-O 200 Tablet 10's may reduce the Activity of the vaccines including cholera vaccine, live, typhoid vaccine, live and Bacillus Calmette-Guérin (is used in a solution to stimulate the immune system in the treatment of bladder cancer and as a vaccine to prevent tuberculosis). To ensure adequate vaccine response, you should not receive any above-mentioned vaccine, until at least 14 days after you complete your antibiotic therapy. Taxim-O 200 Tablet 10's can occasionally cause kidney problems, and using it with furosemide may increase that risk.
