Domperidone (Raciper D) is a dopamine antagonist with antiemetic properties. Domperidone (Raciper D) does not readily cross the blood-brain barrier. In Domperidone (Raciper D) users, especially in adults, extrapyramidal side effects are very rare, but Domperidone (Raciper D) promotes the release of prolactin from the pituitary. Its antiemetic effect may be due to a combination of peripheral (gastrokinetic) effects and antagonism of dopamine receptors in the chemoreceptor trigger zone, which lies outside the blood-brain barrier in the area postrema. Animal studies, together with the low concentrations found in the brain, indicate a predominantly peripheral effect of Domperidone (Raciper D) on dopamine receptors.

Do not take Raciper D Capsule 15's if you are allergic to any of its contents or other proton pump inhibitors (such as pantoprazole, rabeprazole, lansoprazole or omeprazole); if you are taking nelfinavir (used to treat HIV); if you have prolactinoma (tumour of the pituitary gland), blockage in intestines, bleeding in stomach or intestine, moderate to severe liver disease, low level of potassium or magnesium or high levels of magnesium, and heart problems. Inform your doctor before taking Raciper D Capsule 15's if you have severe kidney, heart or liver disease, or if you are due to have Chromogranin A blood test; if you have fungal infections, heart problems or HIV infection. Talk to your doctor if you experience weight loss, problems with swallowing, stomach pain, indigestion, vomit food or blood, or if you pass black stools while taking Raciper D Capsule 15's. On long-term treatment, Raciper D Capsule 15's may cause low magnesium levels, vitamin B12 levels, and increase the risk of bone fractures; the doctor may advise regular tests for monitoring your condition. Do not take Raciper D Capsule 15's if you are pregnant or breastfeeding unless prescribed by the doctor. Raciper D Capsule 15's may cause dizziness, so drive only if you are alert. Raciper D Capsule 15's should not be given to children as safety have not been established. Avoid consuming alcohol along with Raciper D Capsule 15's as it could lead to increased drowsiness and can elevate the production of stomach acid. A prolonged intake of Raciper D Capsule 15's is linked with a greater risk of Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhoea, so if you develop diarrhoea that does not improve, immediately consult a doctor.
