Information about Fostera 5 Tablet

Description:

Fostera is used to treat nervous, emotional, and mental conditions (e.g. schizophrenia). It may also be used alone or with other medicines (e.g. lithium or valproate) to treat bipolar disorder (manic-depressive illness) or mania that is part of bipolar disorder. Fostera should not be used to treat behavioral problems in older adult patients who have dementia or Alzheimer's disease. Fostera is available only with your doctor's prescription. Once a medicine has been approved for marketing for a certain use, experience may show that it is also useful for other medical problems. Although this use is not included in product labeling, Fostera is used in certain patients with the following medical condition: Prevention of Nausea and vomiting caused by cancer medicines.

Uses / Indications:

Fostera-5 Tablet is used for the treatment, control, prevention, & improvement of the following diseases, conditions and symptoms: Mental illness, Delusions, Irritated mood, Mood stabilization, Schizophrenia, Manic episodes in bipolar disorder, Treatment of major depressive disorder, Treatment of obsessive compulsive disorder, Treatment of bulimia nervosa, Treatment of panic disorder.

Interactions / Warnings:

Do not take Fostera-5 Tablet 10's if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to olanzapine or any of the other ingredients present in this medicine or have a medical history of eye problems such as glaucoma (increased pressure in the eye). Before taking Fostera-5 Tablet 10's, talk to your doctor if you or your family have a history of blood clots, stroke, or heart diseases and if you are above 65 years and have a history of dementia (memory loss). Fostera-5 Tablet 10's may also cause weight gain and increase blood glucose and cholesterol levels. Inform your doctor if you are previously diagnosed with diabetes, liver or kidney disease, Parkinson’s disease (brain disorder), epilepsy, prostate problems, a blocked intestine (Paralytic ileus) and blood disorders.

Side Effects:

Signs of an allergic reaction to Fostera: hives, difficulty breathing, swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat. Fostera can cause serious symptoms if the medicine gets into your bloodstream too fast. During the first 3 hours after your Injection you will be watched for the following signs: severe dizziness, drowsiness, or weakness, confusion, anxiety, feeling angry or hostile, feeling nervous or shaky, trouble walking or talking, seizure (convulsions) or a light-headed feeling, like you might pass out. In rare cases, Fostera may cause a severe skin reaction that can be fatal if it spreads to other parts of the body. Seek medical treatment if you have a new or worsening skin rash with fever, swollen glands, or swelling in your face. Call your doctor at once if you have: twitching or uncontrollable movements of your eyes, lips, tongue, face, arms, or legs, trouble swallowing, signs of dehydration--if you feel very thirsty or hot, are unable to urinate, and have heavy sweating or hot and dry skin, weak immune system--sudden weakness or ill feeling, fever, chills, swollen gums, painful mouth sores, sore throat, trouble swallowing, skin sores, cold or flu symptoms, cough, trouble breathing, high blood sugar--increased thirst, increased urination, hunger, dry mouth, fruity breath odor, drowsiness, dry skin, blurred vision, weight loss or severe nervous system reaction--very stiff (rigid) muscles, high fever, sweating, confusion, fast or uneven heartbeats, tremors. Common Fostera side effects may include: headache, back pain, weight gain, increased appetite, mild drowsiness, dry mouth, Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, sinus pain, runny or stuffy nose, cough or pain, bruising, swelling, or other irritation where the Injection was given.

Medicine interaction:

If you use other drugs or over the counter products at the same time, the effects of Fostera-5 Tablet may change. This may increase your risk for side-effects or cause your drug not to work properly. Tell your doctor about all the drugs, vitamins, and herbal supplements you are using, so that you doctor can help you prevent or manage drug interactions. Fostera-5 Tablet may interact with the following drugs and products: Alcohol, Amiodarone, Anticonvulsants, Areomeprazole, Aspirin, Atypical antidepressants, Benzodiazepines, Carbamazepine, Central nervous system acting drugs, Chlorpromazine.
