Starpress XL is used alone or together with other medicines to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). High blood pressure adds to the workload of the heart and arteries. If it continues for a long time, the heart and arteries may not function properly. This can damage the blood vessels of the brain, heart, and kidneys, resulting in a stroke, heart failure, or kidney failure. A lower blood pressure can reduce the risk of strokes and heart attacks. Starpress XL is also used to treat severe chest pain (angina) and lowers the risk of repeated heart attacks. It is given to people who have already had a heart attack. In addition, Starpress XL is used to treat patients with heart failure. Starpress XL is a beta-blocker. It works by affecting the response to nerve impulses in certain parts of the body, like the heart. As a result, the heart beats slower and decreases the blood pressure. When the blood pressure is lowered, the amount of blood and oxygen is increased to the heart. Starpress XL is available only with your doctor's prescription.

Do not take Starpress XL 50 Tablet 15's if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to Starpress XL 50 Tablet 15's or any ingredients present in it. Please consult your doctor before taking Starpress XL 50 Tablet 15's if you are pregnant or planning to conceive, and breastfeeding. It should not be given to children. Don't stop taking Starpress XL 50 Tablet 15's without talking to your doctor first. Stopping Starpress XL 50 Tablet 15's gradually may cause changes in your heart rhythm and blood pressure, cause chest pain or a heart attack. Your doctor will lower your dose gradually over a period of time to help prevent these symptoms. Before taking Starpress XL 50 Tablet 15's, inform your doctor if you have diabetes mellitus, liver cirrhosis, myasthenia gravis, psoriasis, or if you have a slow heart rate or blood vessel disorder. Do not take Starpress XL 50 Tablet 15's with medicines like monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) for depression, other blood pressure-lowering medicines such as nifedipine, verapamil, diltiazem disopyramide or quinidine (to treat irregular heartbeat). Inform your doctor about all your current ongoing medications before taking Starpress XL 50 Tablet 15's. Do not consume alcohol while on this medication.
