Ramipres is used alone or together with other medicines to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). High blood pressure adds to the workload of the heart and arteries. If it continues for a long time, the heart and arteries may not function properly. This can damage the blood vessels of the brain, heart, and kidneys, resulting in a stroke, heart failure, or kidney failure. Lowering blood pressure can reduce the risk of strokes and heart attacks. Ramipres is an angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor. It works by blocking a substance in the body that causes blood vessels to tighten. As a result, Ramipres relaxes the blood vessels. This lowers blood pressure and increases the supply of blood and oxygen to the heart. Ramipres is also used in some patients after a heart attack. After a heart attack, some of the heart muscle is damaged and weakened. The heart muscle may continue to weaken as time goes by. This makes it more difficult for the heart to pump blood. Ramipres may be started within the first few days after a heart attack to increase survival rate. Ramipres is also used to lessen the chance of heart attacks or strokes in patients 55 years of age or older and have serious heart disease. Ramipres is available only with your doctor's prescription.

Do not take Ramipres 2.5 Tablet 10's if you are allergic to any of its contents. Talk to your doctor if you have heart, kidney or liver problems. Ramipres 2.5 Tablet 10's may sometimes cause a decrease in blood pressure than normal, especially in dehydrated people, are taking diuretics (medicines to treat oedema) and low levels of sodium. Regularly check your blood pressure levels to avoid any risk. Avoid taking Ramipres 2.5 Tablet 10's if you are pregnant or breast-feeding. Talk to your doctor, he/she may prescribe you with alternate medicine. Ramipres 2.5 Tablet 10's is not recommended for children below 18 years of age as the efficacy and safety have not been established. Inform your doctor about all the medicines you are taking and about your health condition to rule out any unpleasant side-effects. Consult your doctor if you have lost a lot of body fluids through vomiting, diarrhoea or sweating more than normal or if you are taking low water tablets to treat oedema (diuretics), or if you undergo dailysis. Stop taking Ramipres 2.5 Tablet 10's one day before receiving an anaesthetic to undergo any surgery or dental procedure. Inform your doctor that you are taking Ramipres 2.5 Tablet 10's. Regular monitoring of blood pressure, electrolyte levels and kidney functioning is advised while taking Ramipres 2.5 Tablet 10's.
