Levocetirizine dihydrochloride (Telekast-L) is an antihistamine that reduces the effects of natural chemical histamine in the body. Histamine can produce symptoms of sneezing, itching, watery eyes, and runny nose. Levocetirizine dihydrochloride (Telekast-L) is used to treat symptoms of year-round (perennial) allergies in adults and children who are at least 6 months old. It is also used to treat symptoms of seasonal allergies in adults and children who are at least 2 years old. Levocetirizine dihydrochloride (Telekast-L) is also used to treat itching and swelling caused by chronic urticaria (hives) in adults and children who are at least 6 months old. Levocetirizine dihydrochloride (Telekast-L) may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.

Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding. If you have kidney problems, dose adjustment might be required; the doctor will do it depending upon your disease's condition. Please inform your doctor if you have a problem passing urine and have epilepsy (fits) before starting Telekast-L Tablet 15's. If you are supposed to undergo skin testing, the doctor might advise you to stop taking Telekast-L Tablet 15's 72 hours before the test as it decreases response to skin prick test. Patients should be cautioned against getting engaged in work that required too much mental alertness, like operating machinery or driving a motor vehicle after intake of Telekast-L Tablet 15's. If you experience aggression, anxiety, or depression after taking Telekast-L Tablet 15's, please consult your doctor immediately. It is advised to avoid contact with known allergens (allergy-causing agents) such as pollen, dust, etc. Certain food items are known to cause allergies to you. Concurrent use of Telekast-L Tablet 15's with alcohol or other antidepressants should be avoided to reduce your mental alertness. Even if you are asymptomatic and feel good, do not stop taking Telekast-L Tablet 15's as it stopping abruptly may lead to an acute attack of asthma.
