Information about Formoflo 250 Capsule

Description:

Formoflo is used together with other medicines (such as inhaled corticosteroids) to treat asthma and prevent bronchospasm in patients with asthma. When used regularly every day, inhaled Formoflo decreases the number and severity of asthma attacks. However, it will not relieve an asthma attack that has already started. Formoflo is also used to treat symptoms of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), including chronic bronchitis and emphysema. Formoflo belongs to the family of medicines known as adrenergic bronchodilators. Adrenergic bronchodilators are medicines that are breathed in through the mouth to open up the bronchial tubes (air passages) in the lungs. They relieve cough, shortness of breath, and troubled breathing by increasing the flow of air through the bronchial tubes. Formoflo is also used to prevent wheezing caused by exercise (exercise-induced bronchospasm or EIB). Formoflo is available only with your doctor's prescription.

Uses / Indications:

Formoflo 250 Transcaps is used for the treatment, control, prevention, & improvement of the following diseases, conditions and symptoms: Treatment of asthma (oral inhalation) Maintenance treatment of bronchoconstriction in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease Breathing difficulties Concomitant therapy with an inhaled corticosteroid in treatment of asthma Management of the nasal symptoms of perennial nonallergic rhinitis (nasal) Asthma Breath shortness Prevention of exercise-induced bronchospasm Relief of the inflammatory and pruritic manifestations of corticosteroid-responsive dermatose (topical)

Interactions / Warnings:

If you are allergic to Formoflo 250 Transcaps 30's or any other ingredients, please tell your doctor. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, please inform your doctor before using Formoflo 250 Transcaps 30's. Formoflo 250 Transcaps 30's is not recommended for children below 12 years of age. Use of Formoflo 250 Transcaps 30's may worsen asthma symptoms in some patients. If you experience severe difficulty in breathing, please consult a doctor immediately so that alternative medicine may be prescribed. Contact your doctor if you have blurred vision or any other vision disturbances while taking Formoflo 250 Transcaps 30's. Regular monitoring of potassium levels is recommended while taking Formoflo 250 Transcaps 30's as it may cause low potassium levels in the blood. If you have high blood pressure, diabetes, chest or lungs infection, hyperthyroidism (overActive thyroid), hypokalaemia (low potassium levels in the blood), glaucoma, cataracts, osteoporosis (weak bones), tuberculosis, heart, liver or adrenal gland problems, inform your doctor before taking Formoflo 250 Transcaps 30's.

Side Effects:

Signs of an allergic reaction to Formoflo: hives, difficulty breathing, swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat. Call your doctor at once if you have any of these serious side effects: chest pain, fast or pounding heartbeats, tremors, headache, or restless feeling, seizure (convulsions), wheezing, choking, or other breathing problems after using this medication, increased thirst or hunger, urinating more than usual or worsening asthma symptoms. Less serious Formoflo side effects may include: dizziness, anxiety, headache, sleep problems (insomnia), back pain, muscle cramps, sore throat, dry mouth, cough, stuffy nose, skin rash, itching or changes in your voice.

Medicine interaction:

If you use other drugs or over the counter products at the same time, the effects of Formoflo 250 Transcaps may change. This may increase your risk for side-effects or cause your drug not to work properly. Tell your doctor about all the drugs, vitamins, and herbal supplements you are using, so that you doctor can help you prevent or manage drug interactions. Formoflo 250 Transcaps may interact with the following drugs and products: Atazanavir (Nasal) Atazanavir (Oral inhalation) Beta-blockers Clarinathromycin (Nasal) Clarinathromycin (Oral inhalation) Conivaptan (Nasal) Drugs that prolong the QTc interval Erythromycin (Nasal) Indinavir (Nasal) Indinavir (Oral inhalation)
