Information about Swich 200 Tablet

Description:

Swich is used to treat bacterial infections in many different parts of the body. It belongs to the class of medicines known as cephalosporin antibiotics. It works by killing bacteria or preventing their growth. However, Swich will not work for colds, flu, or other virus infections. Swich is available only with your doctor's prescription.

Uses / Indications:

Swich 200 Tablet is used to treat certain mild to moderate bacterial infections. These include middle ear, throat, skin infections, anus and rectum infections in the women, urinary tract infections, community-acquired pneumonia, sexually transmitted bacterial infection of the urethra and cervix. Swich 200 is also used to treat inflammation of the sinuses (acute maxillary sinusitis). It is also used to treat lower respiratory tract infections such as long-term inflammation of the lungs (also called, long-term bronchitis). This medicine works by preventing the formation of an outer layer of the bacteria. This medicine helps by killing the bacteria and removing a bacterial infection from the body.

Interactions / Warnings:

Do not take Swich 200 Tablet 10's if you are allergic to cefpodoxime or any antibiotics. Taking antibiotics of own or practising self-medication may lead to antibiotic resistance in which antibiotics fail to act against specific bacterial infections. Before taking Swich 200 Tablet 10's, let your doctor know if you have/had inflammation in bowel, kidney or liver problems. Do not take antacids and anti-ulcer medicines along with Swich 200 Tablet 10's and maintain a gap of 2-3 hours between both to avoid any drug interaction. Consult a doctor before taking Swich 200 Tablet 10's if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Avoid alcohol consumption while taking Swich 200 Tablet 10's to prevent unpleasant side effects. Swich 200 Tablet 10's may cause dizziness, so be cautious while driving.

Side Effects:

Signs of an allergic reaction: hives, difficulty breathing, swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat. Call your doctor at once if you have any of these serious side effects: diarrhea that is watery or bloody, fever, chills, body aches, flu symptoms, unusual bleeding or bruising, cough, wheezing, chest tightness, trouble breathing, fast or pounding heartbeats, feeling like you might pass out, seizure (convulsions), pale or yellowed skin, dark colored urine, fever, confusion or weakness, jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes), fever, sore throat, and headache with a severe blistering, peeling, and red skin rash, swelling, rapid weight gain, feeling short of breath (even with mild exertion) or increased thirst, loss of appetite, urinating less than usual or not at all. Less serious side effects may include: Nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, mild diarrhea, bloating, gas, constipation, stiff or tight muscles, back pain, muscle pain, headache, tired feeling, anxiety, nervousness, feeling restless or hyperActive, numbness or tingly feeling, warmth or redness under your skin, dizziness, spinning sensation, strange dreams, nightmares, stuffy nose, dry mouth, unusual or unpleasant taste in your mouth, white patches or sores inside your mouth or on your lips, diaper rash in an infant taking liquid Swich mild itching or skin rash or vaginal itching or discharge.
