Information about Florina Tablet

Description:

Florina is a combination birth control pill containing female hormones that prevent ovulation (the release of an egg from an ovary). Florina also causes changes in your cervical mucus and uterine lining, making it harder for sperm to reach the uterus and harder for a fertilized egg to attach to the uterus. Florina is used as contraception to prevent pregnancy. There are many brands and forms of this medicine available. Not all brands are listed on this leaflet.

Uses / Indications:

Florina Tablet is used for the treatment, control, prevention, & improvement of the following diseases, conditions and symptoms: Prevention of pregnancy, Avoid pregnancy when taken within 72 hours of having unprotected sex, Pregnancy prevention, Avoid pregnancy for up to three years, Hormonal contraception, Prostate cancer, Dysfunctional uterine bleeding, Hormonal contraceptive, Reduces or stops the short-term changes of menopause.

Interactions / Warnings:

Please inform your doctor if you have or ever had heart disease, hypertension, obesity, cancer (breast, cervix, or uterus), diabetes mellitus, liver or kidney disease, abnormal uterine bleeding as FLORINA L TABLET is known to contra-indicate. Check your breast every month for changes such as if you feel lumps, see anything odd, please inform your doctor. Smoking may increase the risk of a cardiovascular event in women over 35 years when taking FLORINA L TABLET. FLORINA L TABLET does not protect against any sexually transmitted disease or HIV. If pregnancy occurs while you are taking FLORINA L TABLET, please consult your doctor. Do not start using a new medication without telling your doctor. Sometimes, you may experience spotting or bleeding in between missed periods or menstrual periods. If the spotting persists, please consult your doctor. Do not use FLORINA L TABLET if you are pregnant or have recently delivered a baby. If you have missed a dose or are late by 12 hours, please wear a condom for 2 days while sexual intercourse to avoid unwanted pregnancy. Do not take medicine if you are pregnant already or breastfeeding. If you have migraines, please inform your doctor, as taking FLORINA L TABLET may increase your headache.

Side Effects:

Signs of an allergic reaction to Florina: hives, difficulty breathing, swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat. Stop using Florina and call your doctor at once if you have: sudden numbness or weakness (especially on one side of the body), sudden severe headache, slurred speech, problems with vision or balance, sudden cough, wheezing, rapid breathing, coughing up blood, pain, swelling, warmth, or redness in one or both legs, chest pain or heavy feeling, pain spreading to the jaw or shoulder, Nausea, sweating, general ill feeling, a change in the pattern or severity of migraine headaches, Nausea, upper stomach pain, itching, tired feeling, loss of appetite, dark urine, clay-colored stools, jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes), swelling in your hands, ankles, or feet, a breast lump or symptoms of depression (sleep problems, weakness, tired feeling, mood changes). Common Florina side effects may include: mild Nausea (especially when you first start taking Florina), vomiting, bloating, stomach cramps, breast tenderness or swelling, nipple discharge, freckles or darkening of facial skin, increased hair growth, loss of scalp hair, changes in weight or appetite, problems with contact lenses, vaginal itching or discharge or changes in your menstrual periods, decreased sex drive.

Medicine interaction:

This medicine may have an interaction with anti-epilepsy medicines (primidone, phenytoin, carbamazepine), medicines used to treat tuberculosis (rifampicin, rifabutin), medicines used to treat HIV (ritonavir, efavirenz, paritaprevir) medicine used to treat fungal infections (griseofulvin, ketoconazole, itraconazole, posaconazole).
