Information about Pan 40 Tablet

Description:

Pan is a proton pump inhibitor that decreases the amount of acid produced in the stomach. Pan is used to treat erosive esophagitis (damage to the esophagus from stomach acid caused by gastroesophageal reflexux disease, or GERD) in adults and children who are at least 5 years old. Pan is usually given for up to 8 weeks at a time while your esophagus heals. Pan is also used to treat Zollinger-Ellison syndrome and other conditions involving excess stomach acid. Pan is not for immediate relief of heartburn. Pan may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.

Uses / Indications:

Pan 40 Tablet is a prescription medicine that is used for the short-term treatment of digestive diseases in which stomach acid and bile flows back and irritates the food-pipe, also known as GERD. This medicine works by suppressing the production of acid in the stomach. Pan 40 Tablet is also used for the management of inflammation and irritation of the food pipe, to treat the overproduction of stomach acid, and to prevent stomach ulcers caused by the use of certain medicines (called as, ).

Interactions / Warnings:

You should avoid taking PAN 40 Tablet 15's if you are allergic to PAN 40 Tablet 15's or proton pump inhibitors, have gastric cancer, liver disease, low magnesium level (osteoporosis), low vitamin B12, pregnant or planning for pregnancy and breastfeeding mothers. PAN 40 Tablet 15's may interact with a blood thinner (warfarin), antifungal (ketoconazole), anti-HIV drug (atazanavir, nelfinavir), iron supplements, ampicillin antibiotic, anti-cancer drug (methotrexate). Let your doctor know if you are taking these medicines. Prolonged intake of PAN 40 Tablet 15's may cause lupus erythematosus (an inflammatory condition in which the immune system attacks its own tissues), Vitamin B12, and magnesium deficiency. Intake of PAN 40 Tablet 15's may mask the symptom of gastric cancer, so if you have any severe stomach pain or gastric bleeding (blood in mucous or stool) immediately consult the doctor.

Side Effects:

Signs of an allergic reaction: hives, difficulty breathing, swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat. Call your doctor at once if you have: severe stomach pain, diarrhea that is watery or bloody, sudden pain or trouble moving your hip, wrist, or back, bruising or swelling where intravenous Pan was injected, kidney problems--urinating less than usual, blood in your urine, swelling, rapid weight gain, low magnesium--dizziness, fast or irregular heart rate, tremors (shaking) or jerking muscle movements, feeling jittery, muscle cramps, muscle spasms in your hands and feet, cough or choking feeling or new or worsening symptoms of lupus--joint pain, and a skin rash on your cheeks or arms that worsens in sunlight. Taking Pan long-term may cause you to develop stomach growths called fundic gland polyps. Talk with your doctor about this risk. If you use Pan for longer than 3 years, you could develop a vitamin B-12 deficiency. Talk to your doctor about how to manage this condition if you develop it. Common side effects may include: headache, dizziness, stomach pain, gas, Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, joint pain or fever, rash, or cold symptoms (most common in children).

Medicine interaction:

PAN 40 Tablet 15's may interact with a blood thinner (clopidogrel, warfarin), antifungal (ketoconazole, voriconazole, itraconazole, posaconazole), anti-HIV drug (atazanavir, nelfinavir), iron supplements, antibiotic (ampicillin, rifampicin), heart medicine (digoxin) and anti-cancer drug (methotrexate). Let your doctor know if you are taking these medicines.
