Description:
Mac Rabonik Sodium is an antiulcerant drug in the class of Proton Pump Inhibitors. Mac Rabonik Sodium is a substituted benzimidazole which suppresses gastric acid secretion by inhibiting the gastric H+/K+-ATPase enzyme at the secretory surface of the gastric parietal cell. It is an enteric coated tablet, because of its coated formulation it is highly stable in stomach and because of higher pKa value of Mac Rabonik Sodium it provides faster onset of action. It blocks the final step of gastric acid secretion.
After oral administration of 20 mg, Mac Rabonik is absorbed and can be detected in plasma by 1 hour. The effects of food on the absorption of Mac Rabonik have not been evaluated. Mac Rabonik is 96.3% bound to human plasma proteins. Mac Rabonik is primarily metabolized in the liver by Cytochrome P-450 3A (Sulphone metabolite) and 2C19 (Desmethyl Mac Rabonik). Following a single 20 mg oral dose of Mac Rabonik, approximately 90% of the drug is eliminated in the urine. The remainder of the dose is excreted in the feaces.
Uses / Indications:
Mac Rabonik Capsule is used for the short-term treatment and maintenance of healing, relief from symptoms of backflow of stomach acid in the food pipe (gastroesophageal reflexux disease), and small intestine ulcer (duodenal ulcer). It is also used to treat small intestine bacterial infection (Helicobacter pylori), and cancer of stomach ulcer. It is a prescription medicine. This medicine works by preventing the amount of acid production in the stomach by blocking an organic enzyme (H+/K+ ATPase) system. This medicine helps by reducing acid secretions in the stomach. Mac Rabonik is also used for the long-term treatment of overproduction of gastric acid (Zollinger-Ellison syndrome).
Mac Rabonik Capsule may also be taken in combination with other medicines to treat certain conditions as recommended by the doctor. Mac Rabonik Capsule is used together with Amoxicillin, or Clarinathromycin to treat the stomach infection and small intestine ulcers caused by bacteria (Helicobacter pylori).
