Uses / Indications:
Xmet 250 Tablet is used to reduce the high blood sugar level due to improper production or use of insulin in the body (also called, type 2 diabetes mellitus). It works by lowering the amount of glucose in the body. It also increases the response of the body to insulin.
Xmet 250 Tablet may also be used together with other medicines to treat certain conditions as recommended by the doctor. It is used in combination with sulphonylureas to lower the total cholesterol levels in the blood and may increase the risk of low blood sugar levels (hypoglycemia).
Interactions / Warnings:
Some diabetic patients taking Xmet 250 Tablet 15's may develop a serious condition called lactic acidosis. In lactic acidosis, there is too much lactic acid accumulated in the blood. So, your liver and kidney proper functioning is required for the elimination of excess lactic acid from the blood. You should not take metformin if you have kidney disease, as measured by a blood test. Xmet 250 Tablet 15's may lower vitamin B-12 levels, so try to have blood test annual blood and vitamin. Xmet 250 Tablet 15's, when used with insulin, may extremely lower the blood sugar level. So, the doctor may lower the dose of insulin.
