Uses / Indications:
Glyciphage SR Tablet is used to reduce the high blood sugar level due to improper production or use of insulin in the body (also called, type 2 diabetes mellitus). It is a prescription medicine. It works by lowering the amount of glucose in the body. It also increases the response of the body to insulin.
Glyciphage SR Tablet may also be taken in combination with other medicines to treat certain conditions as recommended by the doctor. Glyciphage SR Tablet is used together with sulphonylureas to lower the total cholesterol levels in the blood and may increase the risk of low blood sugar levels (hypoglycemia).
Interactions / Warnings:
Some diabetic patients taking Glyciphage Tablet 20's may develop a serious condition called lactic acidosis. In lactic acidosis, there is too much lactic acid accumulated in the blood. So, your liver and kidney proper functioning is required for the elimination of excess lactic acid from the blood. You should not take metformin if you have kidney disease, as measured by a blood test. Glyciphage Tablet 20's may lower vitamin B-12 levels, so try to have blood test annual blood and vitamin. Glyciphage Tablet 20's, when used with insulin, may extremely lower the blood sugar level. So, the doctor may lower the dose of insulin.
