Description:

Advog is an alpha-glucosidase inhibitor used for lowering post-prandial blood glucose levels in people with diabetes mellitus.

Uses / Indications:

Advog M 0.3 Tablet is used for the treatment, control, prevention, & improvement of the following diseases, conditions and symptoms: Maturity onset diabetes, Type 2 diabetes mellitus, Polycystic ovary syndrome, Type ii diabetes mellitus.

Interactions / Warnings:

Advog M 0.3 Tablet 10's may increase the risk of cardiovascular diseases and hypoglycemic conditions in renal and liver disease patients. It can cause pneumatosis intestinalis (gas-filled cysts on the bowel wall) when used along with other alpha-gastrointestinal drugs. It is advised to monitor the gastrointestinal side effects thoroughly to rule out the possibility of pneumatosis intestinalis. Advog M 0.3 Tablet 10's has an increased risk of lactic acidosis (a rare, but serious metabolic complication of excess lactic acid in the blood that is caused by metformin accumulation). The risk of lactic acidosis is high in older people with kidney, liver, and heart diseases. Hence, brief your medical history and take advice from your doctor before starting Advog M 0.3 Tablet 10's. Avoid consuming excessive alcohol as it can potentiate lactic acidosis.

Side Effects:

Gastrointestinal disorders eg, diarrhea, loose stools, abdominal pain, constipation, anorexia, Nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain and loss of appetite may occur with the combination of Advog. These adverse reactions occur most frequently during initiation of therapy and resolve spontaneously in most cases. To prevent them, it is recommended that metformin hydrochloride be taken in 2 or 3 daily doses during or after meals. A slow increase of the dose may also improve gastrointestinal tolerability. Skin and Subcutaneous Tissue Disorders: Very rarely skin reactions eg, erythema, pruritus, and urticaria have been seen. In such a case, Advog tablets should be discontinued. Increased AST or ALT may also occur. When Advog is used in combination with other antidiabetic drugs, hypoglycemia may occur (0.1% to <5%).

Medicine interaction:

If you use other drugs or over the counter products at the same time, the effects of Advog M 0.3 Plus Tablet may change. This may increase your risk for side-effects or cause your drug not to work properly. Tell your doctor about all the drugs, vitamins, and herbal supplements you are using, so that you doctor can help you prevent or manage drug interactions. Advog M 0.3 Plus Tablet may interact with the following drugs and products: Anti-diabetic drugs, Aspirin, Atenolol, Biguanide, Epinephrine, Fenofibrate, Furosemide, Insulin, Prednisone, Salbutamol or terbutaline.
