Betamethasone (Betnovate-C) dipropionate, are effective in the treatment of corticosteroid-responsive dermatoses primarily because of their anti-inflammatory, antipruritic and vasoconstrictive actions. While the physiologic, pharmacologic, and clinical effects of the corticosteroids are well known, the exact mechanisms of their actions in each disease are uncertain. However, corticosteroids are thought to act by the induction of phospholipase A2 inhibitory proteins, collectively called lipocortins. It is postulated that these proteins control the biosynthesis of potent mediators of inflammation, such as prostaglandins and leukotrienes, by inhibiting the release of their common precursor, arachidonic acid. Arachidonic acid is released from membrane phospholipids by phospholipase A.

Betnovate C Cream 30 gm may cause discolouration of skin, cloth and hair. Avoid long term use of Betnovate C Cream 30 gm, abrupt withdrawal, use of occlusive dressing and application to the eyes. If you are known to be allergic to Betnovate C Cream 30 gm, iodine or any other medicines, please tell your doctor. If you are pregnant or a nursing mother, it is advised to consult a doctor before using Betnovate C Cream 30 gm. Do not use Betnovate C Cream 30 gm in more than prescribed doses, or for a prolonged time as it may cause adverse effects. Wear disposable plastic gloves or wash your hands after use if you are applying Betnovate C Cream 30 gm for others. Do not wrap or cover the treated area with airtight dressings unless advised by a doctor. Avoid using Betnovate C Cream 30 gm for more than 5 days on face. Do not swallow Betnovate C Cream 30 gm. In case of accidental swallowing, consult a doctor immediately. If you have rosacea (redness and often red, small, pus-filled bumps on the face), acne, perioral dermatitis (redness and swelling of the skin around the mouth), psoriasis, chickenpox, herpes, cold sores, athlete’s foot, ringworm, thrush, impetigo (blisters or red sores on the face and hands), genital itching or other skin problems, inform your doctor before taking Betnovate C Cream 30 gm.
