Betadine surgical scrub contains Povidone- Iodine as an Active ingredient. Betadine surgical scrub works by inhibiting the growth of microorganisms.

Betadine Surgical Scrub is used for the treatment, control, prevention, & improvement of the following diseases, conditions and symptoms: Infection caused in minor cuts, scrapes and burns

Side Effects:

The following is a list of possible side-effects that may occur from all constituting ingredients of Betadine surgical scrub. This is not a comprehensive list. These side-effects are possible, but do not always occur. Some of the side-effects may be rare but serious. Consult your doctor if you observe any of the following side-effects, especially if they do not go away. Hyperthyroidism Hypersensitivity reactions Betadine surgical scrub may also cause side-effects not listed here.

Medicine interaction:

Do not use Betadine 7.5% Surgical Scrub 50 ml, if you are allergic to povidone-iodine. Let your doctor know if have an overActive thyroid gland (hyperthyroidism) or any other thyroid diseases, liver, and kidney problems since the usage of Betadine 7.5% Surgical Scrub 50 ml can cause iodine absorption into the body. This iodine absorption may lead to a rapid heartbeat (tachycardia) and restlessness, imbalance of electrolytes, abnormal blood concentration (osmolarity), and abnormal kidney function (renal impairment). Please tell your doctor if you are undergoing any lithium therapy or treatment involving radioActive iodine. Betadine 7.5% Surgical Scrub 50 ml should not be used before or after radioiodine scintigraphy or radioiodine treatment of thyroid carcinoma. Using Betadine 7.5% Surgical Scrub 50 ml during breastfeeding may increase the iodine levels in the breastmilk, which can cause hypothyroidism in breastfed infants. Betadine 7.5% Surgical Scrub 50 ml can cause excessive iodine absorption with its vaginal use, hence avoid douching (washing) with Betadine 7.5% Surgical Scrub 50 ml and iodine-containing tampons during breastfeeding. Please consult your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to conceive before using Betadine 7.5% Surgical Scrub 50 ml since it can affect the unborn baby.
