Description:

Nortriptyline (Nortipan) is a tricyclic antidepressant. Nortriptyline (Nortipan) affects chemicals in the brain that may become unbalanced. Nortriptyline (Nortipan) is used to treat symptoms of depression.

Uses / Indications:

Nortipan Tablet is used for the treatment, control, prevention, & improvement of the following diseases, conditions and symptoms: Nerve damage pain Seizures Anxiety disorder in adults Depression Wed wetting in children Cardiovascular disease Nortipan Tablet may also be used for purposes not listed here.

Interactions / Warnings:

Do not take Nortipan Tablet 10's if you are allergic to any of its contents. Inform your doctor before taking Nortipan Tablet 10's if you have or had heart problems, bipolar syndrome, severe liver disease or if you have taken MAO inhibitors in the last 14days. Consult your doctor before taking cough-cold medicines containing adrenaline-like drugs such as ephedrine, phenylpropanolamine, isoprenaline, noradrenaline or phenylephrine. Please do not stop taking Nortipan Tablet 10's without consulting your doctor as it could cause withdrawal symptoms. Do not take Nortipan Tablet 10's if you are pregnant or breastfeeding unless prescribed by the doctor. Nortipan Tablet 10's causes drowsiness and dizziness, so drive only if you are alert. Nortipan Tablet 10's should not be given to children as the safety and effectiveness have not been established. Avoid consuming alcohol along with Nortipan Tablet 10's as it could lead to increased drowsiness and sleepiness. Consult your doctor immediately if you experience suicidal tendencies.

Side Effects:

Signs of an allergic reaction to Nortriptyline (Nortipan): hives, difficult breathing, swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat. Report any new or worsening symptoms to your doctor, such as: mood or behavior changes, anxiety, panic attacks, trouble sleeping, or if you feel impulsive, irritable, agitated, hostile, aggressive, restless, hyperActive (mentally or physically), more depressed, or have thoughts about suicide or hurting yourself. Call your doctor at once if you have: blurred vision, tunnel vision, eye pain or swelling, or seeing halos around lights, restless muscle movements in your eyes, tongue, jaw, or neck, a light-headed feeling, like you might pass out, seizure (convulsions), new or worsening chest pain, pounding heartbeats or fluttering in your chest, sudden numbness or weakness, problems with vision, speech, or balance, fever, sore throat, easy bruising, unusual bleeding, jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes), painful or difficult urination or high levels of serotonin in the body--agitation, hallucinations, fever, fast heart rate, overActive reflexes, Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, loss of coordination, fainting. Older adults may be more likely to have side effects from this medication. Common Nortriptyline (Nortipan) side effects may include: Nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, anxiety, sleep problems (insomnia), dry mouth, unusual taste, little or no urinating, constipation, vision changes, breast swelling (in men or women) or decreased sex drive, impotence, or difficulty having an orgasm.

Medicine interaction:

Nortipan Tablet 10's may have interaction with antidepressants (amitriptyline, duloxetine, mirtazapine, fluoxetine, sertraline, citalopram, escitalopram, bupropion), pain killer (codeine, fentanyl, hydrocodone, morphine, oxycodone, tramadol, acetaminophen), anti-convulsant (gabapentin, phenobarbital, phenytoin, clonazepam, topiramate), anti-anxiety (diazepam, alprazolam), sedative-hypnotics (zolpidem), antihistamine (diphenhydramine, cetirizine), muscle relaxant (cyclobenzaprine), antiemetic (ondansetron).
