Description:

Nexito (Nexito) is an antidepressant belonging to a group of drugs called selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs). The way Nexito works is still not fully understood. It is thought to positively affect communication between nerve cells in the central nervous system and/or restore chemical balance in the brain. Nexito is used to treat anxiety in adults. Nexito is also used to treat major depressive disorder in adults and adolescents who are at least 12 years old. Nexito may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.

Uses / Indications:

Nexito 15 Tablet is a prescription medicine that is used for the treatment and maintenance of depression (major depressive disorder) in adults and children 12-17 years. This medicine works by increasing the level of a natural substance (serotonin) in the brain. Nexito 15 Tablet is also used to treat severe anxiety (generalized anxiety disorder) in adults, to treat the panic disorder with or without fear of places and situations (agoraphobia), to treat social phobia (also called, social anxiety disorder), and to treat mental illness with uncontrollable thoughts and repetitive behaviours (known as, Obsessive-compulsive disorder).

Interactions / Warnings:

Taking Nexito 15 Tablet 10's should be avoided in patients having epilepsy (Brain disorder in which brain Activity becomes abnormal, causing seizures), impaired liver or kidney function, diabetes, decreased level of sodium in the blood, tendency to easily develop bleedings or bruises, patients receiving electroconvulsive treatment, having coronary heart disease, suffering or have suffered from heart problems or have recently had a heart attack, having a low resting heart-rate, prolonged severe diarrhoea, and vomiting (Being sick) or using diuretics (water tablets), experiencing a fast or irregular heartbeat, fainting, collapse, or dizziness on standing up, which may indicate abnormal functioning of the heart rate, having or previously had eye problems, such as certain kinds of glaucoma (increased pressure in the eye).

Side Effects:

Signs of an allergic reaction to Nexito: skin rash or hives, difficulty breathing, swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat. Report any new or worsening symptoms to your doctor, such as: mood or behavior changes, anxiety, panic attacks, trouble sleeping, or if you feel impulsive, irritable, agitated, hostile, aggressive, restless, hyperActive (mentally or physically), more depressed, or have thoughts about suicide or hurting yourself. Call your doctor at once if you have: blurred vision, tunnel vision, eye pain or swelling, or seeing halos around lights, racing thoughts, unusual risk-taking behavior, feelings of extreme happiness or sadness, low levels of sodium in the body - headache, confusion, slurred speech, severe weakness, vomiting, loss of coordination, feeling unsteady or severe nervous system reaction - very stiff (rigid) muscles, high fever, sweating, confusion, fast or uneven heartbeats, tremors, feeling like you might pass out. Seek medical attention right away if you have symptoms of serotonin syndrome, such as: agitation, hallucinations, fever, sweating, shivering, fast heart rate, muscle stiffness, twitching, loss of coordination, Nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea. Common Nexito side effects may include: dizziness, drowsiness, weakness, sweating, feeling shaky or anxious, sleep problems (insomnia), dry mouth, loss of appetite, Nausea, constipation, yawning, weight changes or decreased sex drive, impotence, or difficulty having an orgasm.

Medicine interaction:

This medicine may have an interaction with anti-depressants such as phenelzine, iproniazid and tranylcypromine, medicines used to treat Parkinson's disease such as selegiline. Taking this medicine with Nexito 15 Tablet 10's can increase the risk of side effects, antibiotic linezolid, lithium (used in the treatment of manic-depressive disorder) and tryptophan, anti-depressants such as Imipramine and desipramine, medicines used to treat migraines such as Sumatriptan, medicines used for severe pain such as tramadol, medicines used for stomach ulcers such as Cimetidine, lansoprazole, and omeprazole, medicines used to treat fungal infections such as fluconazole, medicines used to reduce the risk of strokes such as ticlopidine, blood-thinning medicines (warfarin, dipyridamole, and phenprocoumon) and pain killers, antimalarials such as mefloquine, medicines used for heart diseases such as flecainide, propafenone. Medicines that decrease blood levels of potassium or magnesium, as these increase the risk of life-threatening heart rhythm disorder.
