Description:

Intalith CR is used to treat mania that is part of bipolar disorder (manic-depressive illness). It is also used on a daily basis to reduce the frequency and severity of manic episodes. Manic-depressive patients experience severe mood changes, ranging from an excited or manic state (e.g. unusual anger or irritability or a false sense of well-being) to depression or sadness. It is not known how Intalith CR works to stabilize a person's mood. However, it does act on the central nervous system. It helps you to have more control over your emotions and helps you cope better with the problems of living. It is important that you and your family understand all the effects of Intalith CR. These effects depend on your individual condition and response and the amount of Intalith CR you use. You also must know when to contact your doctor if there are problems with using the medicine. Intalith CR is available only with your doctor's prescription. Once a medicine has been approved for marketing for a certain use, experience may show that it is also useful for other medical problems. Although these uses are not included in product labeling, Intalith CR is used in certain patients with the following medical conditions: Cluster headaches. Mental depression. Neutropenia (a blood condition where there is a decreased number of a certain type of white blood cells).

Uses / Indications:

Intalith CR 450 Tablet is used for the treatment, control, prevention, & improvement of the following diseases, conditions and symptoms: Mood changes with alternating periods of happiness and depression Exaggerated emotions Aggressive and self-harming behavior Over-excitability Hypomania Low white blood count due to cancer treatment Urine output in patients suffering from excess antidiuretic hormone disease Intalith CR 450 Tablet may also be used for purposes not listed here.

Interactions / Warnings:

Regular blood tests are recommended while taking Intalith CR-450 Tablet 10's to check lithium levels in blood. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, please inform your doctor before taking Intalith CR-450 Tablet 10's. If you have hypothyroidism (underActive thyroid gland), please inform your doctor before taking Intalith CR-450 Tablet 10's as it may cause low thyroid levels. If you notice decreased amount of urine, dark, reddish urine, muscle pain or weakness, inform your doctor immediately as it may be due to a serious condition called rhabdomyolysis (muscle tissue breakdown) which may lead to kidney problems.

Side Effects:

Signs of an allergic reaction to Intalith CR: hives, difficulty breathing, swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat. Call your doctor at once if you have: a light-headed feeling, like you might pass out, shortness of breath, pounding heartbeats or fluttering in your chest, increased urination, weakness, dizziness or spinning sensation, confusion, memory problems, hallucinations, fever, muscle stiffness, slurred speech, uncontrolled muscle movements in your face (chewing, lip smacking, frowning, tongue movement, blinking or eye movement), loss of bowel or bladder control, a seizure (blackout or convulsions), early signs of Intalith CR toxicity - vomiting, diarrhea, tremors, loss of balance or coordination, drowsiness or muscle weakness, dehydration symptoms - feeling very thirsty or hot, being unable to urinate, heavy sweating, or hot and dry skin or increased pressure inside the skull - severe headaches, ringing in your ears, dizziness, Nausea, vision problems, pain behind your eyes. Common Intalith CR side effects may include: drowsiness, tremors in your hands, dry mouth, increased thirst or urination, Nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, stomach pain, changes in your skin or hair, cold feeling or discoloration in your fingers or toes, feeling uneasy or impotence, loss of interest in sex.

Medicine interaction:

If you use other drugs or over the counter products at the same time, the effects of Intalith CR 450 Tablet may change. This may increase your risk for side-effects or cause your drug not to work properly. Tell your doctor about all the drugs, vitamins, and herbal supplements you are using, so that you doctor can help you prevent or manage drug interactions.
