Inderal LA is used alone or together with other medicines to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). High blood pressure adds to the workload of the heart and arteries. If it continues for a long time, the heart and arteries may not function properly. This can damage the blood vessels of the brain, heart, and kidneys, resulting in a stroke, heart failure, or kidney failure. Lowering blood pressure may reduce the risk of stroke and heart attacks. Inderal LA is also used to treat severe chest pain (angina), migraine headaches, or hypertrophic subaortic stenosis (thickened heart muscle). Inderal LA may also be used to treat irregular heartbeats, tremors, or pheochromocytoma (adrenal gland tumor). It may also be used to reduce the risk of death in patients who have heart attacks. Inderal LA oral solution is used to treat proliferating infantile hemangioma. Inderal LA is a beta-blocker. It works by affecting the response to nerve impulses in certain parts of the body, like the heart. As a result, the heart beats slower and decreases the blood pressure. When the blood pressure is lowered, the amount of blood and oxygen is increased to the heart. Inderal LA is available only with your doctor's prescription.

Inderal LA 40 Tablet 15's should not be used in the cardiogenic shock (heart unable to pump sufficient blood) and heart failure condition. Don't stop taking this medicine without talking to your doctor first. Stopping Inderal LA 40 Tablet 15's gradually may cause changes in your heart rhythm and blood pressure, cause chest pain or a heart attack. Your doctor will lower your dose gradually over a period of time to help prevent these symptoms. You should not use Inderal LA 40 Tablet 15's if you have very slow heartbeat, asthma, serious heart condition (sick sinus syndrome) or any heart blockage. Children weighing less than 4.5 pounds should not be given Inderal LA 40 Tablet 15's. It should not be given to the children less than 12 years of age. Before taking Inderal LA 40 Tablet 15's you should tell doctor if you have any muscle disorder (myasthenia gravis, rhabdomyolysis), breathing problem (COPD, bronchitis, emphysema), low blood sugar level (hypoglycaemia), low blood pressure (hypotension), depression, previous heart failure, liver/kidney disease, thyroid hormone disorder, adrenal gland cancer or problems with circulation (Raynaud’s syndrome). You should avoid discontinuing use of Inderal LA 40 Tablet 15's before undergoing any surgery. Intake of Inderal LA 40 Tablet 15's may mask symptoms of diabetes. So tell your doctor if you have type 1 or type 2 diabetes. It may also worsen your symptoms of congestive heart failure and bradycardia (slow heart rate less than 60). You should regularly monitor your prothrombin time if Inderal LA 40 Tablet 15's is taken with anti-coagulants like warfarin.
