Description:

Escitalopram (Etilaam S) (Escitalopram (Etilaam S)) is an antidepressant belonging to a group of drugs called selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs). The way Escitalopram (Etilaam S) works is still not fully understood. It is thought to positively affect communication between nerve cells in the central nervous system and/or restore chemical balance in the brain. Escitalopram (Etilaam S) is used to treat anxiety in adults. Escitalopram (Etilaam S) is also used to treat major depressive disorder in adults and adolescents who are at least 12 years old.

Uses / Indications:

Etilaam-S-10 Tablet is used for the treatment, control, prevention, & improvement of the following diseases, conditions and symptoms: Panic disorders, Sleep disorders, Low back pain, Tension headache, Depression, Cervical spine disorder, Major depressive disorder, Anxiety.

Interactions / Warnings:

Taking Etilaam S 10 Tablet 10'S should be avoided in patients having epilepsy (Brain disorder in which brain Activity becomes abnormal, causing seizures), impaired liver or kidney function, diabetes, decreased level of sodium in the blood, tendency to develop bleedings or bruises easily, patients receiving electroconvulsive treatment, having coronary heart disease, suffering or have suffered from heart problems or have recently had a heart attack, having a low resting heart-rate, prolonged severe diarrhoea, and vomiting (Being sick) or using diuretics (water tablets), experiencing a fast or irregular heartbeat, fainting, collapse, or dizziness on standing up, which may indicate abnormal functioning of the heart rate, having or previously had eye problems, such as certain kinds of glaucoma (increased pressure in the eye).

Side Effects:

Signs of an allergic reaction to Escitalopram (Etilaam S): skin rash or hives, difficulty breathing, swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat. Report any new or worsening symptoms to your doctor, such as: mood or behavior changes, anxiety, panic attacks, trouble sleeping, or if you feel impulsive, irritable, agitated, hostile, aggressive, restless, hyperActive (mentally or physically), more depressed, or have thoughts about suicide or hurting yourself. Call your doctor at once if you have: blurred vision, tunnel vision, eye pain or swelling, or seeing halos around lights, racing thoughts, unusual risk-taking behavior, feelings of extreme happiness or sadness, low levels of sodium in the body - headache, confusion, slurred speech, severe weakness, vomiting, loss of coordination, feeling unsteady or severe nervous system reaction - very stiff (rigid) muscles, high fever, sweating, confusion, fast or uneven heartbeats, tremors, feeling like you might pass out. Seek medical attention right away if you have symptoms of serotonin syndrome, such as: agitation, hallucinations, fever, sweating, shivering, fast heart rate, muscle stiffness, twitching, loss of coordination, Nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea. Common Escitalopram (Etilaam S) side effects may include: dizziness, drowsiness, weakness, sweating, feeling shaky or anxious, sleep problems (insomnia), dry mouth, loss of appetite, Nausea, constipation, yawning, weight changes or decreased sex drive, impotence, or difficulty having an orgasm.

Medicine interaction:

Etilaam S 10 Tablet 10'S may interact with anti-depressants such as phenelzine, iproniazid, and tranylcypromine, medicines used to treat Parkinson's disease such as selegiline, drugs that can cause bleeding including antiplatelet drugs like clopidogrel, like ibuprofen, 'blood thinners' like warfarin.
